Fillings, Inlays and Onlays
WHAT IS FILLING?
When a tooth gets partially damaged, decayed, or worn out, then that partially ruined part is carefully detached from your tooth by a dentist. Fillings are used to restore this partially removed part to bring the tooth to its initial shape and size.
Such a tooth is backed up with durable filling. Dental fillings are used when you want to prevent the tooth to decay any further.
WHAT ARE INLAYS AND ONLAYS?
Inlays and Onlays are an alternative to fillings. They are far better in longevity as compared to fillings. Inlays and Onlays are extremely comfortable while large repairs of frontal teeth or chewing textures of back teeth are.
They can be made from resin or porcelain. An inlay fits itself in the tooth hole while Onlays will automatically build their shape like a tooth.
Types Of Fillings
Every kind of filling will suit your teeth depending upon how you react to allergies from a few materials. We offer the following fillings:
Composite Filling
A composite filling is the most natural looking filling as it exactly matches your tooth color. It is prepared by mixing plastic and tiny glass particles.
Glass Ionomer(GI) filling
This is a white colored filling that doesn’t exactly match one’s tooth color. GI filling is sometimes installed without any kind of drilling. Hence, this painless filling is used for children. This filling releases fluoride to prevent the tooth from decaying further.
Aesthetic Filling
Aesthetic Filling is the newest method of teeth filling. The teeth is restored not only to match their natural shape and color. The surface microstructure of the tooth is also restored.
The microstructure refers to texture, opacity, and the gradient of the shades in the tooth. Aesthetic Filling is a work of art and requires longer chair time than composite fillings.
